What I do
Dick Hobbs has been involved in the broadcast and electronic media industry for more than three decades. I started life in audio, graduating from the University of Surrey with a degree in music with applied physics.
Since then I have sold microphones, designed public address systems (very big in railway stations and mosques), run marketing and PR operations for a large software company and for the leading manufacturer of telecines and film scanning systems, and owned my own marketing communications business.
I have appeared regularly on screen, and in print far too many times to count. I edited leading publications, including IBC Daily News and IBC TV.
Today I provide individual services to magazines, communications agencies, broadcasters, vendors and trade bodies. These services range from producing the IBC Innovation Awards show to ghost-writing white papers and blog posts; running training courses in modern workflows to consultancy workshops on new technology and working practice.
My clients span the globe. I am happy to go more or less anywhere, and I travel regularly to visit client sites for research, training and consultancy.
